Orientation

Can I still attend Orientation if I have not already?

Yes, we have two freshman and two transfer sessions remaining; all orientation sessions will take place virtually. Visit orientation.olemiss.edu for dates and more details.

What does it mean for Orientation to be delivered in a virtual format?

Academic advising and course registration will be completed in online sessions. Orientation presentations, videos from various administrators and other important content will be uploaded to students’ UM Blackboard accounts for viewing throughout the summer. Orientation Leaders will facilitate small group discussions throughout the summer. These sessions will give students a chance to meet other incoming students, learn about campus life and resources and ask questions. Students will receive invites via their Ole Miss e-mail accounts.

How will I know when my advising appointment is?

Students will have a virtual advising appointment with their academic department or an advisor from the Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience based on the date they are registered for orientation. For example, a student registered for June 1-2 orientation will have an appointment on either June 1 or June 2. Information will be sent to Ole Miss e-mail accounts in the days leading up to that date.

Why do I still have to pay a fee if Orientation is online?

Fees were reduced allow the orientation staff to continue to operate and provide services to new students throughout the summer and into the Fall.

How do I access Blackboard?

Students can use their Ole Miss WebID and password to log in to Blackboard by visiting blackboard.olemiss.edu. Guests are provided a link in the orientation schedule via email.
