As we shift from a mission-critical staffing presence on campus to more regular levels of on-campus activity, employees have an opportunity to use additional COVID-19 related leave programs provided under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”).
Although these programs have been available since April 1, employees who are unable to telecommute have been on administrative leave with pay. Effective July 1, 2020, employees may be eligible to transition to these formal leave programs.
- Employees who are unable to telecommute and cannot report to their on-campus workplace due to a qualifying reason may be eligible for up to 80 hours of emergency leave until December 31, 2020.
- Employees who are unable to work regularly scheduled hours due to caring for a child, whose school or place of care is closed, or child care provider is unavailable due to COVID-19 related reasons may be eligible for up to 480 hours of Expanded Family & Medical Leave (FMLA+) until December 31, 2020.
- If your situation doesn’t meet the criteria for these two leave programs, however, you still have concerns regarding a potential underlying health condition, visit our Family and Medical Leave Act site and Human Resources representatives are available to assist with questions.
