Dear Student,
The following information will prove helpful to you as you navigate quarantine and/or isolation due to COVID-19 exposure. Please review the information carefully. This document also includes a link which will direct you to an information form to complete. The information you supply will help university personnel provide support and resources you may need. No information provided in this form will be used for student conduct purposes.
Quarantine vs. Isolation: What’s the Difference?
Isolation and quarantine help protect the public by preventing exposure to people who have or may have a contagious disease like COVID-19.
- Isolation separates sick people with a contagious disease from people who are not sick.
- Quarantine separates and restricts the movement of people who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick.

What if I have questions about my status or what to do?
Cooperation with public and university health officials’ directives is imperative. You should have been provided with specific instructions by a health provider about what to do if you have tested positive for COVID-19, have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, or are awaiting your own test result. If you have questions, contact Student Health Services at (662) 915-7274.
Important Next Step: Complete COVID-19 Student Self-Report Form
The purpose of the form is to collect information about students who are in quarantine or isolation. Completing this form will help University personnel provide you with outreach and support during this time. Filling out the form should only take 5-10 minutes.
Please reach out if you have questions or concerns. Your UM family is here to support you!
